Alter-native starts its activities the 3rd of December 2008.
The idea is to create a collective of women and men born anywhere, aware they can live in any place and always feel citizens of the world.
Alter-native because we look at the contradiction of the international job mobility, the experience of the instability that goes along with our lives of emigrants, we want to share our thoughts, ideas and plans so that we can critically assess the global conflicts and changes.
Alter-native because we get involved in doing research and producing knowledge in the time of the global market, because we believe that is possible to build a laic, multicultural, pluralist Europe showing solidarity and saying “No to all wars!”
Alter-native identifies with the principles of the Human Rights Declaration and is against any form of discrimination and authoritarianism.
Alter-native thinks and acts openly and believes in the cultural debate, favouring political and practical proposals. Our purpose is to sustain and try to link the local Dutch debate with the one taking place in Italian language.
Alter-native wants to be an open laboratory not only for Italian speaking citizens but also for anyone who shares its fundamental principles.
Alter-native organizes debates, meetings, seminars and other events of topical international interest on politics, social issues, ecology, people migration, social development, but also culture, books, and music.
Alter-native talks and cooperates, where possible, with other Italian and non Italian associations, present in the Netherlands.
